On 5 May 2019, the ICHIBAN Submission Fighting Tournament will take place in Pescara, Italy.
The ICHIBAN tournament winners will get the chance to fight at the Oktagon show in Monza, Italy, on Saturday, 25 May 2019. The event will be broadcast across 160 countries around the world.
The event is sponsored by the Municipality of Pescara and will take place at the Palazzetto Dello Sport of the city of Pescara.
Registrations will close on 24 April 2019.
Oktagon is an international martial arts tournament based in Northern Italy. The annual Oktagon tournaments, which draw 14,000 spectators, are also broadcast on DMAX and Rai Sport television to 120 countries.
Through 2015 (the 20th edition), the tournaments were held at the Mediolanum Forum in Assago, near Milan. In 2016, it was announced that the tournament’s venue would move to the Pala Alpitour in Turin and be held jointly with the American MMA promotion organization Bellator.
Oktagon contestants have included Giorgio Petrosyan and his brother Armen Petrosyan.
The Global Martial Arts Association (GAMMA) is the world governing body for the sport of Mixed Martial Arts.
GAMMA is headed by its President, Alexander Engelhardt, and based in The Netherlands. GAMMA is a non-profit sport federation with national recognised federations across five continents.
As MMA continues to grow in popularity around the world, we need to ensure the values of MMA are promoted and GAMMA’s focus is on raising the quality of MMA as a sport globally. We are working to develop and implement initiatives to promote the values of the sport and work with Member National Associations to establish quality development programs and pathways.
