For the first time, the GAMMA World Championships taking place in Amsterdam this week will see the rankings system used to determine the seeding for athletes in each of the categories.
Since 2019 when the rankings system begun, GAMMA has been working to ensure a fair and consistent approach to seeding for its competitions.
During the World Championships, the top 4 athletes in each category will be seeded according to the rankings going into the event. The current rankings and additional information on how the classifications have been calculated can be found here.
Ranking points will also be available for athletes that compete at the World Championships and will be awarded as follows:
1st Place = 70 points
2nd Place = 50 points
3rd Place* = 30 points
5th Place = 20 points
Bout Won = 8 points per bout
Participation = 4 points
All points accumulated during the Championships will then be multiplied by 10 at the end of the event and will result in updated global rankings.
