For the very first time, the Syrian Arab Federation for Mixed Martial Arts, the General Sports Federation, the Syrian Olympic Committee, and the MMA Arab Federation came together under the supervision of GAMMA to organise the inaugural Arab Super Mixed Martial Arts Championships in Damascus in April.
The event which was delivered in partnership with Shams Academy, featured athletes from 12 Arab countries and was held over three days at the Al-Jalaa Sports Hall in Damascus. Vice President of the Lebanese Federation of MMA Sports and GAMMA Board Member Michael Amer was in attendance to oversee the event and to deliver two educational seminars for Judges and Referees and Coaches respectively.
Other dignitaries in attendance were Dr. Basel Al Shaer, President of the Arab MMA Federation, and Nizar Taleb, member of the Executive Office of the Arab Federation.
These Championships were a great success for the Syrian Federation and have provided the perfect platform to develop a pathway for its athletes to represent the country at international events in the future.
