The Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts (GAMMA) and GAMMA USA have announced a new U18 International MMA Championships that will take place in Nashville, Tennessee in November 2022.

The event which is scheduled to take place from 3 to 6 November will be open to all male and female athletes aged from 8 years old to 17 years old who are members of their respective GAMMA National Federations or have approval from GAMMA to participate. There will be 15 weight categories for girls and 23 weight categories for boys when the competition gets underway at the Millennium Maxwell House Hotel in Nashville.

There will be no restriction on the numbers of athletes that teams may enter per age and weight category and the link to register for the Championships is open until October 28.

Announcing this new event, GAMMA President Alexander Engelhardt said, “This is a great opportunity for our young athletes to compete at an international championships. We know that this is a challenging time for everyone and we want to thank GAMMA USA for their willingness to host what will surely be a great event.”

Hosting these inaugural U18 International Championships are aligned with the long term strategy of GAMMA USA. “Youth athletes and their safety are our top priority at GAMMA USA. Being able to host the inaugural international championships for them is a commitment on our end. Nashville is a spectacular venue with world-class facilities and we’re excited to welcome athletes from around the world for what promises to be an exciting event,” added GAMMA USA President Justin Brown, “we need parents who aren’t as familiar with MMA to understand that this isn’t what they watch on TV. That’s the single most important message.”
