Following a recent visit to Southeast Asia by Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts (GAMMA) President Alexander Engelhardt, the GAMMA Asian Championships 2022 have now been confirmed as taking place in Pattaya, Thailand from 9-13 November 2022.

Known for its beaches, the lively coastal resort city on the Gulf of Thailand is no stranger to organising big events and it will surely be a popular choice for both athletes and spectators.

The competition venue, the multi-purpose Pattaya Asian Indoor Stadium, will be ready to welcome hundreds of the very best MMA athletes across Asia for the continental championships. With ten weight categories for men and seven for women in both MMA and striking MMA disciplines, there will be plenty of medal winning opportunities.

Thailand won one gold medal at the 2021 Asian Championships in Kyrgyzstan and will be hoping that home advantage will help them win more this time around.

Taking advantage of having so many athletes and support staff together, the International Testing Agency (ITA) will once again be conducting anti-doping education seminars. There will also be seminars for referees and judges to ensure the ongoing highest quality standards of officiating at GAMMA events.

“Our Asian Championships are always very well attended and the standard of competition is very high. MMA in Asia is growing rapidly and this event is extremely important to provide athletes with the very best competition opportunities in the region. I would like to thank our Thailand member and the local authorities in Pattaya for their support in hosting these championships,” said Alexander Engelhardt.

The GAMMA Asian Championships 2022 will follow the European Championships which start on Saturday and continue until September 28 in Tbilisi, Georgia.
