Nigeria is one of the most vibrant economic countries in Africa with a rich and diverse culture that is attracting interest and development in several areas, including sport. For GAMMA, Nigeria is a very important country and a leader for the growth of the rapidly emerging Mixed Martial Arts scene across the continent.
With two global stars leading the charge of young, talented athletes; Israel Adesanya and Kamaru Usman, the next generation is ready to unleash their potential with GAMMA in support. GAMMA is always looking for the best partnerships that will prioritise the development of athletes and offer real pathways for the most talented athletes.
In Africa, the African Knock Out (AKO) promotion owned by Kamaru Usman is leading the way. This young and innovative organisation is providing a platform for young athletes to find their plan in the global stage of MMA and offering more opportunities for fans to engage with live events.
Last month, the head of Referees and Judges for GAMMA Michael Wachter travelled to Lagos in Nigeria to deliver a seminar for local officials involved in the next AKO event which focused on the GAMMA Pro rules. Not only was this a fantastic platform for officials to spend time learning and asking questions, it was a highly valuable opportunity to share knowledge and enhance the global network of educated officials who are fully commitment to developing and implementing a safe and fair environment for athletes to compete in.
We look forward to more events in Africa in the future.
