When the Asian Mixed Martial Arts Association (AMMA) was created late last year, the Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts (GAMMA) publicly supported the new Continental Association which is recognised in Asia and has the support of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). Today this support has been formalised with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two organisations.

The collaboration will focus on the growth of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) in Asia and will include GAMMA sharing its knowledge and experience of competitions, developing consistent rules, as well as promoting AMMA events to its members.
With the inaugural AMMA Championships taking place this week in Thailand, the collaboration will begin in earnest as GAMMA will be supporting its National Member in Thailand and the local organiser of the event, the IFSA.
Commenting on the MOU, GAMMA President Alexander Engelhardt said, “it is great for our Members in Asia and the development of our sport that we have agreed this MOU with AMMA. With the OCA encouraging National Olympic Committees to formalise their MMA structures, this collaboration provides a support network for members and creates another platform for athletes to compete. We are looking forward to witnessing the very first continental competition that AMMA will stage this week.”
